Summary: Adyn has a sweet little secret he's been keeping from Rena. Does he actually have the courage to tell her how he really feels? :0
"Oof!" Rena let out, falling to her side. Tyken looked behind him and ran to her, looking at the Nobody that knocked her down. Adyn glanced back, his heart heaving for a second. He focused his attention back to the Nobody in front of him. The anger built up inside of him, causing him to slice the scythe easily through the Nobody. Adyn sliced through the other Nobodies around them, finally being able to turn around to Rena. Tyken already placed a bandaid on her knee, smiling and making jokes. "Thanks for killin' the Nobodies, Adyn-kuuun!"
His heart fluttered.
"Uh... no problem." Adyn replied dully, shoving his hands into his pockets. He glanced over to the girl who was talking to Tyken. Man... why don't I just admit it? I hate lying to myself like this... He started walking toward Rena, finally working up the courage to tell her how he really felt about the Keybearer. He reached out to her, yet she was already running with Tyken, probably to get some sea salt ice cream. "See you... I guess."
Adyn sighed and turned around, sitting on a little bench. His devil tail swung sadly, in tune to the soft breeze that moved his wing. He rested his chin in the palms of his gloved hands, close to tears. He knew he shouldn't get close to Rena. It was easy to see that she liked Tyken, not Adyn. He blinked his eyes, trying to brush past the tears. He had to get used to the fact that it was Tyken. Not Adyn.
It would NEVER be Adyn.
"Adyn-kun? What's the matter? Why are you crying? What happened?" Rena asked, looking at him. Adyn looked up, the tears staining his golden hawk eyes. He looked down and saw a sea salt ice cream in her hand, along with an unwrapped one. He wiped his eyes and shook his head. "It has to be somethin'. Don't lie to meh!"
"It's nothing... just remembering my mother." Adyn lied, smiling weakly. Rena nodded her head and gave him the ice cream, sitting next to him. Tyken sat next to Rena and stared off into space. They licked their ice creams in silence, Adyn choking back tears. He got up suddenly, throwing the empty popsicle into the trash bin. Rena looked at him with curiousity, like she always did. "We should go find some more Nobodies! To get rid of them!"
"I don't like that idea..." Tyken whispered, throwing his popsicle away as well. Rena got down and shrugged, tossing her popsicle in the bin. "Rena already got hurt! I don't want to see her get hurt again!"
"Maybe you're right..."
"No! We can go fight some more Nobodies! We should do something Adyn-kun wants to do!"
"No, it's fine! Really! I shouldn't have --"
"NO. We're GOING." Rena said sternly, pouting her lips. Adyn blushed and nodded, walking in front of them. I'm so stupid. I should just shut up once in a while... she might get hurt again! Adyn rubbed his head, trying to shake off the thoughts. He flapped his wing suddenly, startling Rena who was behind him.
"Sorry..." he muttered, continuing to walk. Tyken frowned. It all clicked to him. He was staring at the back of a guy in love.
"I'm gonna go, guys! Yuffie told me I had to help Leon feed the dogs or something like that."
"Really Tyken-kun? I had to do that last week. It's so not fun. See ya Tyken-kuuun!!!"
"Oh... bye Tyken..."
"It's just us Adyn-kun! Let's whoop some Nobody butt!" Rena exclaimed, smiling. Adyn nodded and blushed, smiling as well. He looked around, spotting a Dusk Nobody. He pointed to the direction it slithered. Rena nodded and ran along side Adyn, which made his heart thud in his chest. He could feel the butterflies in his stomach, which always felt weird. "HYAAA!!!"
She has a battlecry!? Adyn shook his head and charged after another Nobody, smirking. They defeated them with ease, which made Rena sigh happily. "Glad that's--"
Crack. Adyn's eyes went wide as he stared at the wall in front of them. Rena raised an eyebrow, wondering what the hell Adyn was staring at so intently. He grabbed Rena's arm and pulled her down, just as the wall split in half. What the heck!? What kinda wall does that!? "What the heck was that!?"
"I don't know. But it can't be anything good. .....Run?"
"I like runnin'..."
"THEN RUN!!!" Adyn grabbed Rena's hand, blushing while he ran. Rena tried regaining her balance, seeing as Adyn was a little faster than her. (He has a wing; that's the only reason why. :0) Adyn slowed down and pushed Rena forward, turning back around. "Run, Rena! Go find Tyken or something!"
"But Adyn-kun!"
"Just do it! Trust me on this one, okay?"
"But... I don't think there's anyone chasin' us..."
"....that just ruined my dramatic rescue..." Adyn softly said, turning back around. He walked up to Rena and grinned. "I guess you're right."
"You're weird, Adyn-kun..."
"I know, but... I have a little secret!"
"And what would that be?"
"It's a secret..."
"Tell me, pleaseeee?" Rena begged, giving the oh-so-famous puppy eyes. Adyn bit his lips and rolled his eyes. Rena smiled and leaned in, just incase he was gonna whisper it. "I won't tell anybody!"
"It'll be okay if you did." Adyn whispered. Rena turned to look at him, another confused face ready. But instead of a smile or a wink, Rena got a swift peck on the lips. She blushed and covered her mouth, but before she could say anything, Adyn was gone. All she saw was a little grey feather falling from the sky. She looked up but couldn't see him. He's a strange...thingy... Rena grabbed the feather and blushed, going into an ultra-excited moment.
"HE DOES LIKE ME!!! I KNEW IT!!!"
