!!! This cat is so cute...I'm going to take care of him...I hope Colonel Mustang doesn't mind...

*looks up from the communication device and blinks*

*something in his eyes is begging that it isn't*

Roy looked over at Alphonse, and then back to the cat currently purring and nuzzling his shins, and then back at Alphonse again to raise his eyebrow at the boy - unfortunately for him, there was something in the kids eyes that made him sigh, and he pushed his ankle against the cat's side.

"It will be if there's uncleaned mess." He warned, bending down, only to pick up the feline and hold it up infront of him.

"You always wanted one, didn't you?" He asked, pulling a face when the cat mewed at him, and letting it down onto the counter.

Al let out a breath he didn't even know he had been holding when Roy said this. He shook his head.

"No I'll take care of him! Don't worry about that!" he replied, not bothering to hide the grin that crept onto his face.

The smile was gone from his face and replaced by a look of surprise when he heard Roy ask the next question. "...How did you know...?"

it was only a slight twitch of his lips - but the Colonel was smiling. That Alphonse was at least content was something that seemed to make him happy.

When he was quizzed on his knowledge, he looked back up at Alphonse again and sighed. It wasn't that he'd forgotten Al didn't remember his past - it just seemed such an alien concept to him even now.

"Your Brother and I once battled as part of his assessment. Some information and if I believe this cat were part of the deal if I lost. I don't know exactly why I didn't end up with him though..." He mused for a moment, before holding his hand out to the cat, watching as it sniffed the back of his hand curiously.

"Does he have a name?" He asked, attempting to divert Alphonse's attention from his older brother.

He got up, reached over and began to scratch the cat behind its ears, eliciting purrs from the tiny creature. A sad smile reached his lips as Colonel Mustang mentioned his brother, but then...wait. His brother and Colonel Mustang battled? That must have been interesting...There was no doubt in Al's mind that he had been there...if only he could remember.

"Wait...this exact cat? And no...I haven't picked out a name for him yet..."

The Colonel folded his arms across his chest then, watching as the cat purred. He guessed it really wouldn't bring him any harm to have a pet around, and it meant if Alphonse was out - he might not hear the ticking.

"I believe so. He does need a name though, Alphonse." He ventured again, pulling his hand up to his chin in thought.

"Mmm...I'm really not good at this..." he replied, grinning sheepishly. He took his glove off so that he could feel the soft fur under his fingers. Al looked back up at Colonel Mustang. "Um...do you have any ideas for names?"
