What are these plants that are hanging around everywhere?

They're nice to look at just...I don't remember there being any around here since I've arrived...Is this a curse?

What could be so bad about hanging plants...?

Mistletoe. It's tradition in some countries for two people to kiss when they find themselves standing beneath it at this time of year.

You'd be better off asking someone from a Western nation to explain their winter holiday celebrations in full. Most people where I'm from don't observe Christmas beyond the commercial implications.
