Open Letter to Mark Zuckerberg

Dear Mr. Zuckerberg,
On February 25 Facebook administration has blocked FB account of my friend Dmitry Chernyshev for publishing an antiwar poem by Alexandra Smilansky.

Dmitry Chernyshev is a famous Russian blogger and human rights fighter. Last year he has been arrested and jailed for his protests against the Putin’s regime and dictatorship in Russia.

He was blocked by Facebook during the first days of war in Ukraine for his protest against this Russian invasion. This is unprecedented. Facebook declares its “political neutrality” but in fact it stands for the most antihuman and dangerous regimes. By blocking a user for an antiwar poem Facebook demonstrated its adherence to the policy of oppression and war. It demonstrates its support of dictatorships.

(The poem quotes the answer of perishing Ukrainian soldiers to invaders, which was - yes! - not too polite).
I know about other cases of banning for protests against dictators. (Another example might be deleted account of Remont Priborov some time ago, but there are others as well).

I am strongly protesting against FB practice of blocking users for posts defending democracy and human rights against fascism, oppression and war.

I demand to lift the blocking of Dmitry Chernyshev immediately.

Alexander Rudkevich, Ontario, Canada.
