Invitation To A (School) Dance
My daughter just got home yesterday from the 3-days-2-nights field trip to the Denver/Colo. Springs with her class mates. After giving me a hug, she shows me her cell phone with a text message.
"Do u want to go to the school dance with me?"
It's from her classmante who's had a crush (At least, he's been offering her help every chance he gets with her locker, pencil, etc. He and this other boy were always running to her whenever there was a call for "partner" in class projects.) on her ever since the first week of school. The dance is just an after-school Hawaiian Luau get-together on Friday -- totally casual. And she was planning on going with her best friend.
I asked her when she got this message. "Monday", she answered. "He was asking for everyone's cell phone numbers, so I didn't think much of it and gave it to him. He messaged me that evening." She was squeeing and thinking about forwarding the message to her best friend to squee together over it.
She's eleven...and kind of on a puny side. The boy's 12, but he's tiny, too. XD I just think it's adorable, so Mommy is like "Why not text 'OK' and be done with it.", while Daddy is like, "You're only 11!" XDD
