This is why I hate going to the doctor's.
They always seem to confirm my worst suspicion. I will still have to go in for an MRI with an orthopedic specialist for a definitive diagnosis, but the preliminary diagnosis is one or more of the following. Partial rupture of Achilles tendon, spring strain (tear) of the Flexor Hallucis Longus or the same of the Tibialis Posterior. Regardless of definitive diagnosis, I've been told that dancing in my current condition is out of the question for I'd be risking a complete rupture, in which case, it will require a surgical repair. I DON"T want that...
So, I'm hopping around the house with my rental crutches for the time being. It does not please me to hear that complete recovery could take 4 to 6 months. *gasp!* And the site of injury will be susceptible for future injury of the same kind, or worse yet, a complete rupture.
Sigh... Why couldn't my body wait till next week??? I think I'm more upset about the fact I didn't get to decide when to retire, but it was decided for me so abruptly. And I've been denied my final performance... I feel like crying, but I'm too stunned even for that.
