What we do as a meditation

Jun 21, 2009 15:49

Just wanted to write about what Bear and I do with the meditations that I post here. We have two copies of the book that they come from, Rooted in God's Love by Dale and Juanita Ryan. We read the meditation aloud, taking turns with the paragraphs (you can print two copies of the meditation that I put on this journal if you can't afford or obtain the books, but do try to get them). Then, we read the prayer aloud together.

After we do that, we immediately write in our own personal journals whatever comes to mind from the meditation, making it into a prayer. Sometimes it might only be a simple "Help!" Other times it might be two pages about work, or about a childhood incident, or whatever comes to mind. Then we read our own journal entry aloud to the other person. We have found that this is very powerful and it has not only brought us closer, but it has revealed things that were just "beneath the surface" in our own lives.

You don't have to use this book, obviously, but there are other wonderful devotional or meditational books out there. I encourage you to do this with your spouse, beloved, best friend, whoever. Anything that makes you feel closer to your "higher power" or God, and to your partner, is a good thing.
