my memphis weekend

well it wasnt so much of a weekend as it was a saturday afternoon and evening, and a sunday morning.

arrived in overton square around 3pm. crawfish festival turned out to be just a bunch of people standing around in the parking lot listening to a pretty bad band and drinking beer. So I decided to enjoy the atmosphere from the Side Street Bar's patio. 1st drink: Vodka Soda...2nd and 3rd drink: Sahara - and these were a doozey! Bombay Sapphire Gin with a splash of Skyy Vodka...wwoooowwwwzzzaaaa! strong and tastes like a dream. after 2 of those I had to control myself from ordering another. So instead I ordered a beer and order a Sahara for my friend Dax that had just arrived. He is one of these people that are perpetually late. We had finished our drinks and went downtown. Went to the Daisy to get our tickets and haggled with the door guys b/c apparently they think they can keep you hostage in there till the show starts. when all we wanted to do was to get out tickets and come back. we con-ed them though telling them we had a tab next door and had to meet a friend down the street...both of which were true..so i guess it wasnt so much a con as a smooth talking.
but to back a moment - concerning the tab we started at the bar next door. went in for a beer b/c they didnt start "selling tickets" (i.e. taking prisoners) at the daisy till 7pm. so we went in and being the enabler that I am - I called for the bar keep - a very attractive brunette.
"ma'm, could you bring us 2 shots of the cheapest whiskey ya got"
apparently this must of been charming to her b/c since that point she started talking to us and flirting. so I suggested that when she got off work that she meet us over at the two-way in. )she agreed and I find out later that I must have given her my number at some point...)
Now this plan would have worked out great except dax refused to leave the concert early. and the band played entirely too long. had I known that dax was going to ditch us and go home after the concert we would have left and continued to bar hop and I wouldnt have gotten so tired. b/c as it was after the show, kelly and I went to the P&H Cafe for a burger...wont make that mistake again - and then to a random bar of her choosing...by this time I was getting tired and I could tell kelly was as well...so i said if she wanted to go home that would be fine. so we went home. I was so tired from standing around at the concert for so long that I totally forgot about meeting the bartender at the two way in.
well overall i must have made a pretty good impression b/c i get a call from her sunday night...and she is being coy about the situation but it is clear that she still wants to party...so i told her i would come by and see her next weekend.

(update - she's pretty cool but not dating material)
