All right, so I've only got 5 minutes until dinner, so I can't make a big huge training post. In my own short and sweet way, then, I'll say that training is going great- it's good to be back, in the way that it's good to physically be in Windsor, as well as in the way that I am more like my old self again ( Read more... )

I think I'm largely now feeding off of other's people's annoyance- when I first heard it, it didn't seem like such a big deal- I also figured both were rather common for a university-based system. However, I do think there should be different rules for campus-wide access vs. rez access, as this is our home, and everyone else can go home and do what they want. We have no campus-wide file sharing system set up, but we've suggested it to them. The University currently only wants ports open that have an academic purpose, though, so they're not even saying whether or not they'll open ports for online gaming yet. I'm hoping that the new students will think it's a normal rez thing, as the rest of us are just used to contracting out for cable access. If we don't make it a big deal to them, they shouldn't think it's a big deal.

They're saying they don't want people to sit idle on the system and kill bandwidth for others- but since they're limiting our bandwidth to 1Mbps anyways, I doubt we're really going to have issues with that. Hopefully they'll increase it? :\

Yay for ITS services lacking in brain cells. ;P
