Move-in went fairly well yesterday. I'll take and post pictures at a more human hour. RA rooms in Mac Hall are gorgeous compared to your average dorm room, not to mention spacious. I'm so psyched to have the ability to have a separate room for work and a separate room for sleep and relaxation. It's a great space.
Outside of the room, however, is a completely different story. Wireless is being installed inside the building for the first time, and the job looks far from complete. There are wires dangling from the walls, lights hanging from the ceilings, and mucky dirt all over the floors. As Dad put it, it's "Ness....it's....ghetto." I guess they have two weeks to get things fixed before most students arrive, but it'd be nice to have it looking put-together before that. :X
Being in Mac Hall, the building with sixteen fire alarms last year, meant that this morning was inevitable- at 8:32, the all-too-familiar "BLANG BLANG BLANG!!!" of the alarm started, and you could hear one person on each floor muttering their own curse words and scrambling for clothes and shoes suitable for running down multiple flights of stairs. I have never been on the seventh floor for a fire alarm before- if we have sixteen pulls this year again, I'm going to have mighty fine legs by the end of it. :P
Fire alarm time is bonding time, though, even in our unshowered and pyjama-ed states. I met the new manager, who seems nice even after being woken up by a blasted bell, and all of the RAs who are here already stood around outside goofing around about who'd done it. The firemen arrived and Edyta immediately declared which one was hers and which one the rest of us would have to fight over. We had to call Andre on 9th and get him out of bed. Man, it's good to be back. :)
