It's a lovely site (which I will be sure to support in the future), but I don't think my needs are emergencies. We won't be able to buy the Christmas gifts we wanted for others, but we'll give them homemade things instead. The kids are getting more than enough from Santa, via the five grandparents -- they won't miss a couple extra from us, and I can have a lot of fun with inexpensive stocking stuffers. We'll call the utilities and push those payments back a week or two to make rent a little easier, and by then blackwillem's business will have picked up again after the holiday lull, so we'll be fine.
But what's an LJ for, if you can't be frustrated about these things? We had just been so frugal, and waited patiently for that next paycheck to arrive before doing the big (last-minute) shopping -- and the car died AT the bank while depositing that paycheck, which then promptly winged its way to our mechanic. And it's just too close to Christmas for us to get paid soon enough for the business R is doing now to make a difference. (Yes, he is managing to convince a few people to sit down with him even in the last few days before Christmas.)

Ah well. I know we'll make it work.
