SPN_reversebang 2012 : Treasure House Art Masterpost

Nov 13, 2012 15:22

My third challenge this year, the first Dean/Sam one, and I barely managed to make it in time. I owe a lot of thanks to my author smalltrolven for being so nice and understanding about the harsh demands of my job.

Impressive set of artwork, I appreciate artists who offer a complete collection and I like how you picked details from the prompt image to create dividers. The layout of the story banner is beautiful, it looks so delicate. That final picture of the guys has so many colourful details to discover and for some reason I especially adore the texture of their suits! Great job:)

P.S. I'm only just catching up with the offererings in this year's RB challenge and I must say there is an over all lack of comments on art. It's ridiculous and makes me sad. I hope you at least had a lot of fun creating your pieces and collaborating with your author.

Thanks a lot for your nice words :) I really had fun with this artwork, and especially that last piece that I came up with only a few days before posting. I wanted it to feel a bit like one of those scavenger's hunt I loved to play at when I was a kid. I'm so glad you enjoyed it !

The lack of comment is indeed sad, and it doesn't really make me feel better that I'm not the only one to suffer from it. I try to tell myself that people are just as crazy busy as I am but then frustration takes over... Anyway, your icon feels somewhat familiar so I take it that you've done some artwork too ? I'm going to check right after I click send :)

Ahw, thanks for checking out my art. I decided to try something different this time:) Apparently that struck a chord with some, yet the unexpected and somewhat ridiculous amount* of comments on my artpost doesn't take anything away from my statement about the lacklustre response in this year's Reverse Bang in general. I'm always unpleasantly surprised how relatively few attention is given to art in a challenge that is supposed to celebrate artists. (No fic without our prompts!)
But I think this year the stories don't get as many comment neither. Maybe people are too caught up in Supernatural at the moment and they'll get back to reading and art appreciation during hiatus. *fingers crossed!*

*Much appreciated obviously: I've never gotten that much comments on art before;)

All your comments are very much deserved, your creativity is beautiful to see !

I'm always unpleasantly surprised how relatively few attention is given to art in a challenge that is supposed to celebrate artists. (No fic without our prompts!) Absolutely, that's the most galling part. I imagine that apart from lurkers and lazy people (we've all been in that category from time to time), not to forget those who simply don't like what an artist did, many people just don't realize that it takes time and work to make art, just like it takes time and work to write a fic. But you go much more quickly through an art post so it's really easy to forget.

These go so well with the fic, very lovely! That last one of the boys makes me wanna touch - it looks so...alive? Full of rich colors and patterns and movement. The mannequin and the rings are both very vivid and so detailed. Great talent!

What a wonderful comment, especially about the last piece. I wanted it to feel like the kind of magic at work in the old house, that little spark added to the boys' relationship thanks to their time there. Thanks a lot for your kind words :)

I finally remembered to come and see your art! Sorry to be so late! I saw your "holder" post earlier, then it completely slipped my sieve of a mind until now, since I've been reading some reversebangs. (Have you read Living Dead Guy? Very cute.)

I really like what you've made, and I must say, I'm very intrigued about the story (which I'm definitely going to read as soon as I finish the one I'm on now). That last pic is great - so much detail! It must have taken you ages to add all that, but it was worth it because it's very cool. :D I also love your original prompt artwork because of that stunning picture of Dean. *sigh* Beautiful. And, once again, all of the interesting and intriguing details. It has a very magical look about it for sure. Gorgeous work, once again, my friend. :D

I'm not any quicker to answer so don't worry about lateness ;) And thanks a lot for your nice words ! I hope you liked the fic too, smalltrolven did such a great job !! I had lots of fun adding the objects into Bobby's house the room, even if the damn scale still doesn't look right ;) I also love that pic of Dean in the original prompt but the fic was set much later in the show's storyline than this s1 still so I had to use more recent pics of the boys in the accompanying artwork.
