"Friends" ... yeah ... okay

Today was a tired day. Busy weekend coupled with little sleep last night made today drag. Forgot to grab an energy drink this morning too, which made it worse. But, overall a good day. Well, until I followed a random link to another forum.

I run a sportbike forum that had a falling out with some members. They were acting like fratboys and eventually got banned for it. Started their own forum, and convinced a lot of people to go over there (many factors, but fact remains most of our users transferred): not a big deal. Many of them were my friends, but I understand wanting to be a part of a more active forum instead of a more directed, but slower, forum.

I never went over because I have my own boards to run and didn't really care for the core group over there. No big deal. Today I followed a random link from one of our users to a thread over there and happened to notice one of the members making a joke about me, which was responded to by my so-called friends, and continued. Out of curiosity, I pulled up Google and scraped the website. Turns out, some people I considered friends have been bagging on me for months. I also apparently invoke feelings of violence in one of the douche bags we banned originally and he won't attend any event I go to, which I find extremely funny. But, overall, it was enlightening and is making me rethink my social position with several people; that in turn makes me mad because these are people I trust, enjoyed hanging out with, and have gone out of my way on several occasions to help out. Still, they compare me to a Nazi and accuse me of compensating for everything from my childhood to my sexuality. I expected that from the "other" group, but not my "friends."

So, after a scary-fun ride home which flirted with triple digit speeds, and almost getting taken out twice (get this, when I WASN'T riding like an ass...who woulda thunk it?), I'm going to a dog's birthday party at a neighbor's place with a bunch of 30 to 50-something neighbors and going to partake in a little booze and relax. After that, I'm coming home and probably cranking up the productivity meter. It's funny how much "the best revenge is success" hits me when I'm pissed at someone: I want to be successful, I want to be independent, and I want to tell those that crossed me and/or pissed me off they can go piss up a rope next time they come to me for a favor.
