Community Discussion: Moving Offsite

Oct 01, 2018 13:58

Howdy!

We wanted to have a community wide discussion as we are in the very early stages of talks about moving the community to our own website.

For a long time this hasn't been on our mind simply because livejournal offers everything that is necessary to operate and maintain the community to a level of standards that we are comfortable with. However, as time has gone on the number of individuals who don't know how to utilize the website or who require assistance to utilize the website has gone up.

So we ask the question: Do you, the users, want to see Artists_Beware move onward to our own website?

Moving to a new website would require us to find a system that can:

- Allow for submissions that we can review. (This may mean setting up an offsite submission system like a google doc, or a built in submission system.)
- Allow for users to comment on posts. (This may require registration to the site.)
- Comment moderation. We want to maintain quality within in the comments just as it is now.
- A system that allows for tagging like we have now.

So far we are looking into word press, but are open to any suggestions.

Right now we also have a Twitter and a Facebook, but there are zero plans to utilize these platforms beyond announcing new posts to the main comm.

I'll be adding a poll. If you feel strongly one way or the other we would like to hear from you. In addition, if you feel like there's more Artists_Beware can do to make itself more openly accessible please do speak up!
