The Hero's Journey (a tarot reading)

I've never done this spread before and I thought it was a pretty interesting one to try. Since it's the new year and all I thought it would be a fun one to do for this year's new adventure.

I asked the cards about my spiritual journey for the year.

The Hero (you): The Magician. You may notice many synchronicities, which point towards deep, spiritual events taking place regardless of the importance of their superficial appearances. You should be finding that you have the knowledge, strength, and inspiration needed to meet your challenges. In general this is a very positive time for you. This is an excellent time for you to undertake some form of spiritual study that you've thought about in the past but haven't had the opportunity to pursue. You would benefit, also from discussion groups that are spiritual in origin.

The Journey Out (reaching the place of initiation): The Two of Cups speak of emotional engagements. These may be in the form of deep connections made with our lovers, friends, family, partners, or co-workers.There is also a sense of vulnerability here as if we have to remove a mask in order to tap into that promising union the Two of Cups represent. All bets are off, we must be at our most exposed in order to reap the fullest benefit of this new connection with another or ourselves.

The Initiation (the climax of the movie as it were): Nine of Pentacles. The card indicates we've identified the roots of our passion, trained those roots with constant care so as to produce significant and remarkable gifts of core wisdom, vitality and freedom. The themes of liberation from the conventional are rampant in the nine of pentacles. Note the opulence, the lushness of growth and sensuality. There is no hesitation in embracing the material gifts. There is no question of authority in matters of acumen and skill. No doubts inhibit the natural order and flow of growth and increase.

The Journey Home (returning from adventure): Seven of Pentacles. The magic of manifestation has taken root; our triumph grows with Amazonian fervor. It's not really magic though. We know our toil and focus created the physical product our lush, lavish rewards. Indeed, the presence of the seven of pentacles in a reading typically comes after a time of back-breaking endeavor.

It appears I am in for a year of hard labor and rich growth. I can't wait.
