I stole this meme from
adda5. It was supposed to be a top 10 but eh... I just couldn't cut it down any more. :p This contains pictures too so this is a meme / mini picspam all in one.
12. Carrie and Mr. Big // Sex And The City (tv & movie)
I think they could be easily hated, too, but theirs is a love story that I just wanted to end happily. When I didn't want him to just frig off for good, that is.
11. Horace Vandergelder & Dolly Levi // Hello, Dolly (movie)
Whatever I've seen Walter Matthau in, he was always grumpy. But I just love how someone as tricky and cool as Dolly is totally fools the bugger into marriage lol.
10. Eve & Wall-E // Wall-E (movie)
I hear a collective AWWWWW! They are BEYOND adorable!
09. Scarlett O'Hara & Rhett Butler // Gone With The Wind (movie)
Does this need explanation? Not a dull relationship for sure lol. They are classic in every sense, regardless of how one feels about the characters. They both have annoying qualities but they are complex and intriguing which makes it fun.
08. Eric & Calleigh // CSI Miami (tv)
My latest heartbreak. They are the FIRST and ONLY CSI couple I wholeheartedly supported and was totally into. So what happens? CBS decides they'd hire new actors rather than pay for Adam Rogriguez to stay on. If it weren't for Criminal Minds, I would completely ignore CBS. Granted he's still slated to appear in a few more episodes throughout the season, but it's just not the same. But anyway, back to these two... their chemistry was so great and as out there as Miami can be, this show DID know how to keep the characters true to character. And frankly, it definitely beats the two other shows with that.
07. Sarah Sherman & Michael Armstrong // Torn Curtain (movie)
Two beautiful people, starting the movie in bed together. Thus, I ship them. :p On a serious note, Michael was a little dull and a douche on occasion. I mean... telling your fiancé that you got some business to do but you'll be back in a couple of months is a sure way to have her follow your ass wherever you're going. Which is kind of awkward when you actually go behind the Iron Curtain in Germany to do some good old secret spy work. (For those familiar with both movies, I think Michael needs Lili Smith (Darling Lili) to go and kick some sense into him. Literally.)
06. Catherine & Warrick // CSI (tv)
I only had half of my heart left to begin with when I got into CSI. Sadly it managed to break that half into another half. They were the should-be couple with the most chemistry, they connected on a deeper level and I had mad love for Warrick for not shutting her out. He was there, he was supportive and they were different YET alike enough to have a better understanding of each other than anyone else. So what happened? The writers got cold feet because they decided the only ship to go on CSI was Grissom/Sara and thus pulled the biggest out-of-character and nonsensical move ever by having Warrick marry his wickedly short term girlfriend on an impulse (as well as divorcing her later on). And then to make matters worse, they also actually killed him off three seasons later. That was the end of CSI as a whole for me. If I still watch an ep, it's for Marg/Catherine only but even that is getting less and less frequent.
05. Miss Parker & Thomas Gates // The Pretender (tv)
And here's the ship responsible for my broken heart. There weren't many people who could penetrate her walls but Thomas did it. He was wonderful, gentle, understanding yet pushing and provocative enough not to let her sink further into her self-destructing lifestyle that he didn't even know the reason for. But bless his soul, all he cared about was her and he actually got her to make the one healthy choice that would have meant normal life -- going away with him. So, alas, he had to die. Deep down I knew it was coming but that still didn't keep me from crying my eyes out when she discovered him shot in the head on her porch. I still can't get through it without tears.
04. Emily Barham & Lt. Commander Charlie Madison // The Americanization Of Emily (movie)
They are my intellectual couple. They over-theorize everything. But it's fine because their exchanges are wonderfully engaging and fascinating. They have the best ever break-up-in-rain scene. I am insanely in love with their argument because it wonderfully displays their differences. Not to mention, it's once again the case of two extremely hot people. I mean... James Garner probably looked his damned best in this movie and I'm totally gone whenever I see him.
03. Lili & Major Willaim 'Bill' Larrabee // Darling Lili (movie)
They are practically the exact opposite of my previous ship. Logic and discussion is not their forte. Instead it's full of hilarity and clouded judgment. Especially for Lili. I insanely love this big, broad man with the petite, pretty woman look they go going. But my God, they have the MOST hilarious bed scene EVER made. It is terribly hot when they make out but I can't help cracking up at everything that goes wrong. Each time she starts giggling, so do I, and it just goes downhill from there. They are comical but not ridiculous. They may be nr3 in line but they are the most hilarious ship of all.
02. Mary Poppins & Bert // Mary Poppins (movie)
Their relationship is supposed to be platonic but I think they forgot to inform Dick Van Dyke about that. His facial expressions practically negate everything Mary says about their 'platonic' relationship (Jolly Holiday sequene). Add the fact that Mary is Miss Denial personified... there's an obvious flaw in the theory that they can't be more than friends. Granted it can go both ways, but I see every reason AND logic for them to be much more than that. Hence, I ship them.
01. Maria & Captain Georg von Trapp // Sound Of Music (movie)
Frankly, the only reason why they beat Mary and Bert is because they actually happened on screen. But DAMN. They were just meant to be. They got it ALL that I find terribly fascinating AND incredibly hot. They start off by bickering, mocking and irritating each other before (or as) they fall in love. The moment they realize they are clearly attracted to each other is done better than any other movies I have ever seen. Yes, I'm talking about the Laendler scene. The moment of clarity hits them as hard as it hits you (unless you're dumb, deaf and blind). I love them because it shows a progress, both for the characters individually and as a couple. They grow and go through changes like every people do in a situation like this. That isn't present in every movie, many take you only as far as hooking a couple up and that's about it. Plus, each time Christopher Plummer holds Julie Andrews' chin, stares in her eyes in a moonlit gazebo and tells her 'I love you', I DIE.
Honorable Mentions
Margaret & Andrew // The Proposal
Ten minutes into the movie you know they will end up together. But I LOL-d all the way through.
Rick Blaine & Ilsa Lund // Casablanca
It's a sad story but gripping.
Lisa Cuddy & Gregory House // House
Frankly, I hate this ship as much as I love it.
Mr & Mrs Smith // Mr and Mrs Smith
I know they aren't really popular with all of you but I enjoyed the movie and thought they were funny as hell. I mean... couples wanting to off each other is one thing. Actually trying to do that with heavy armor is just a whole new level.
Donna & Sam // Mamma Mia
After all those years... And Meryl's rendition of The Winner Takes It All is the best damn performance in the entire movie. But hooray for Sam for having the guts to ask her to marry him.
And now I'm off to do another meme, lol.
