I flew to Seattle and back for the weekend, to attend Geek Girl Con, and managed to read two whole books on the plane.
First was The Amulet of Samarkand by Jonathan Stroud
which features a delightfully snarky djinni as a first person narrator.
The second one was The Long Earth by Stephen Baxter and Terry Pratchett
which is by far the most serious thing I've ever read that Pratchett had a hand in! Beautiful book! I was quite disappointed, actually, to find that book two is still only available in hardcover. Will attempt to find it as an ebook to tide me over.
