Last night was the largest meetup of my Harry Potter Club ever. We had been meeting on Friday nights almost exclusively since the club's inception, but at Pure Speculation in the fall, it was pointed out to me that Friday nights don't work for everybody, so I decided to change it up. I took a poll of our active members and we settled on Saturday for an alternate meetup night. By the time we were a week out from the meetup 15 people had RSVPed yes. This is bearing in mind that our average meetup has about 7 or 8 people in attendance.
So, My Sweetie and I brought extra chairs and a cardtable, and our host made sure that there were three rooms available for use once the party spilled out of the kitchen, and we arranged carpools. We had two copies of the Lego Hogwarts game, and I also brought my Harry Potter Clue game, and Mystery at Hogwarts, which is basically... Harry Potter Clue.
In the end, we had 12 people in attendance, which was our second-highest turnout of ever. Our highest was 20 at the Wizard Rock show last summer, where we had people come in from out of town specifically to attend! Only about half of the group even played the game. The rest of us were in the living room with the TV on, and we watched Half Blood Prince and Order of the Phoenix, in that order, and cobbled together rules for a Harry Potter movies drinking game.
Soooo... guess what we're doing at the next meetup?...
We'll host, and we'll have enough time before then to get our guestroom sorted out, so that people can stay over if they overindulge, and lets face it, it's a drinking game, so people WILL overindulge! I see great shenanigans in my future!
