It is noon on Saturday. I'm still kinda hungover from Cinco de Mustache. LORD.
Yesterday morning I got up, shaved off my beard and left just a Mustache. Yesterday was 1 year since I graduated from undergrad. I figured I'd take 3 years off. Now I realize it'll be more like 5 or 7.
Went to work all day, kinda got my ass handed to me, had an intern helping me so that atleast got some work done. I'd just move back and forth between 2 computers doing differeent work, having her drop in copy and proofread, and I'd do the typography, then have her come back and talk her through how to save files correctly. She wasn't my intern.
At 5 we had to goto Rosa Mex to take pictures. Took a crapload of photos for them, I'm getting pretty good at operating my camera at events. It usually goes like this. I take 1 picture, say I'm going to take another one, change the Fstop depending on what the first one looked like, and then reshoot. The off camera flash isn't TTL, so its totally random, depending on whether I was in the tent, on the lawn, how close, how much sunlight in the background. Atleast I'm getting good at interpretting what the lighting conditions will be, and thinking, well, there's a bit more shade, so that should be an f16 instead of f32.
Got finished around 8 after it got hella crowded, took some crowd shots and then left. There's a tiny bar underneath El Azteca, called El Bar. Its a kinda loungy place, with a dj booth setup, max capacity, 50 people (that'd be PACKED!~!) Got THE WORST service from 2 of the 3 bartenders. One of whom was crying, but then had the nerve to be a complete bitch to me. If she'd've been polite and anguished I'd've tipped her double. No, she all but threw a pen at me, after not even asking if I wanted to close my tab, she just ran it and threw a pen at me. WTF. So i took both slips with me. I was gonna write "RUDE BITCH" in the tip amount, but I figured she was already having a bad day. This was all after waiting for 15 minutes for either bartender to pay attention to me. Rach and I were standing next to each other, and she got her drink, and then they ignored me. I was like, is it the Mustache?!
So we blew that popsicle stand, and headed into the Highlands to got Pozole. Saw everyone in the world that works for my company there. So many servers and bartenders from the Murph, Lobby, ONE, TWO. Sipped 7 dollar tiny margaritas (in the same cuervo cups that we feed the dog with)... Then wandered over to Hand in Hand. Ash made us some surfer on acids and I had a guinni, at which point I saw Xanthie, a girl who has a cabin with me, super sweet. She said she was applying for jobs in PR, so i gave her my card and told her to call me. Then I decided that a DUI wasn't going to happen if I took the highway. Stupid of me to drive on Cinco de Mustache, but I wanted to sleep in my own bed, not on Rach's couch. So I came home. Left blazer out of his crate, woke up to him at 7am staring at me. Shook off my hangover and went back to bed. Awoke to him eating a pack of cigarettes. Went back to sleep, awoke to him playing with my socks... Went back to sleep, awoke to him staring at me again. So finally around 10am I got up. Atleast I could sleep in for an hour and a half!
Its 12.15. There are rocks in the trash across the street that I was thinking about getting and using as a border in my backyard. A little buttermilk and yogurt bath and in a few weeks it'd be all cute and mossy down by the crepe myrtle, if blazer didn't lick it all off first. I have a ton of plants to plant in the yard here, but all I want to do is goto the cabin. I have 32 hours before I have to be at work again, I could go for the night and come back in the afternoon tomorrow, but we're going in 2 weeks, and going to the lake next week, so its best for me to stay here and get some work done, probably.
So the coffee has kicked in, I need a cigarette, and then start crating rocks across the street.
I hope they weren't saving them for anything.
Edit: I did get the rocks, well, it used to be a concrete sidewalk, about 2 inches thick, broken up with a sledgehammer into managable pieces. I figured they just couldn't get anyone to haul them away, so I took a bunch, like 20. I made a really cute little border from them, they're kinda jagged and rough, but make this flowing curvacious line. If you wanna see what it looks like, send me an email to join that garden email. I'm going to start working on it now. Cue the music.
