Thus far my fall semester has been lovely, refreshing, hot, and a little intimidating. My first assignment for my scuplture class is to make 20 sculptures in 4 weeks. ... yes. that was twenty. That's okay. I can do it. I think if I actually focus and really do work during studio time instead of putzing around and waiting for the hands on the clock to move, I may accomplish something. I already have a paper due tomorrow for my Foundations in Art Education class and another sometime in a week or something for my Foundations in Education class (two separate classes). My Contemporary Art History class has assigned approximately 100 pages of reading for the first week and from the looks of the syllabus that's about what i should expect from here on in. 100 pages of a novel is different than 100 pages of theory. I LOVE READING ART HISTORY BOOKS but I have a hard time digesting art history information in large doses. But I'm excited about learning about Contemporary Art because I don't know that much about it. Right now I'm reading about Action Painting, where the actual painting isn't the art, but the process in which it was made. It's interesting. I used to think about that in IB Art and wonder why it wasn't a more popular concept. Apparently it was a more popular concept...I just wasn't aware of it. All of my professors seem to be fabulous! My Foundations in Art Education professor is at least in his 70s and is very plump with a grey curly beard like santa claus. And he is SO EXCITED to be teaching! Hehe. Yes. And apparently my sculpture professor is quite well-known in the sculpture field. Her name is Kendall Buster (I think). I've never seen a studio class so attentive to the professor. She talks to us like we're nine but it's okay because she's super cute and allowed to do that. Okay. Well. That's my new semester in a nutshell.
I miss you, James.
