So today I did a quick run through of the conference talk that I'm going to give next week. Only that it took a whole hell of a lot longer than the time I have to give the talk because the person who I was "presenting" to kept interrupting. SRSLY? I have 15 minutes (if there are questions) to give a summary of the work that I had 2 hours to defend to my review committee. Oh well. You win some you lose some. I'm more annoyed at the interruptions and the timing more so than I am about the nature of the interruptions. They were all very good questions and I have 15 minutes to squeeze in the concept of stability and diversity of morphological forms plus my research and reasoning behind the choices that I made and how it possibly raises questions about work that had previously been done.
Other than that, I think I've realized that as far as getting the most resources I possibly can for my line of work, Russian might be the best option as there is a lot of work that has been published in Russian in the field. I think there might be some good resources out there in so far as Western Slavic and Baltic languages go. But then again, wouldn't it just be good to know a Western Slavic language to begin with?
I'm not going to suggest that I want to learn Latvian or Lithuanian... I don't know of any large areas where speakers of these languages are around me.
