Just a poem I wrote at the pool today.
You stay behind me so I can't see,
the way your eyes are looking at me.
But still I feel your eyes on my back,
trying to fill the thing that I lack.
Until I can no longer bear your gaze,
and stand to leave in a thoughtless haze.
You stay behind me so I can't see,
the way your eyes are looking at me.
Outside after all else have gone,
I feel my heart sing it's mournful song.
A cry for hope a plea for love,
asking aid from God above.
You stay behind me so I can't see,
the way your eyes are looking at me.
"Be my strength oh Lord" I pray,
help me through another day.
Shouldn't God sufficient be?
This boy would never love me.
You stay behind me so I can't see,
the way your eyes are looking at me.
As I wait for my father to come drive me home,
there's someone behind me that lets my heart roam.
Peering into the darkness there's a face that appears,
followed by the voice I've been longing to hear.
You stay behind me so I can't see,
the way your eyes are looking at me.
"Would it be awkward if I told you I loved you?"
I can't believe what I'm hearing is true.
I stand there and try to find the right words to say,
as my father drives up, and the boy shys away.
You stay behind me so I can't see,
the way your eyes are looking at me.
"Hold up just a second and let me say this,"
I reply as I give him one small perfect kiss.
"To know that you love me has me on top of the world,
it seems like God's plan for me has just been unfurled."
You stay beside me so now you can see,
the way I look at you, the way you look at me.
And by the way, I'm crazy, you're beautiful. *nods*
