Norma Beatty is weird for Jak. In one way she reminds him of his little ferrety hyper-active pal, but female and still human. Her hyperactivity and spunk makes him want to put her up on his shoulder and go gallavanting with her, but then she does stuff like Arnaud's double-date, with two guys no less and just freaks him out. Jak's world is apocalyptic chaos, with aliens, bioweapons and general unsafety. Almost all the people he knows are rough, hardboiled fighters with no tolerance for Norma's zany kind of nonsense, and Dax is pretty much the series sole alleviating feature, which he is very good at. But even so Norma goes WAY beoynd what Jak is used to, setting up double-dates, acting generally retarded because she can, groping people right and left, AND setting up a treasure hunt and generally adapting much better to camp than he has.
In short, it's conflicted. Jak likes her crazy but fears it at the same time. She seems kinda lighthearted and has a sense of humour, which he likes, but at the same time she introduces a new kind of chaos into his life which he just... doesn't know what to make of. So for the moment he'll try to maintain a very businesslike relationship to her, because he doesn't want to be set up with any other guys. But there is that little nagging voice in the back of his head, telling him "She can't REALLY be this crazy, and the food she gets Sorata to cook does look rather good." Only time will tell who shall win this conflict of wills.
