Dang! It's been a long time since I've updated! Geez!
I have A LOT to show, so it is all going under a cut. However, here is a slight teaser...
"What is that?" you may ask...
Why it is my completed Chess Piece. I've converted from Battle of the Sexes to MC Escher. I felt it fit the theme better.
Chess Set
Status: Complete
I'm really excited how it turned out. I got some help from the teacher with the chess bard to make it wind on itself. However, everything else is modeled by yours truly. :) I'm proud of it. I'm going to try to make a short movie so you can see how cool it looks when it is revolved. heheh! Sweet!
Nurbs Car
Staus: close but no cigar
Sigh. I haven't touched the Nurbs car in about two weeks. So now I can remember what my teacher taught me. How do you connect not matching nurbs together? I'll have to ask the teacher.... ^^;
There are some major flaws, but I hope it isn't too obvious... Cursed Nurbs. (it has a ring to it. hehehe!)
Dutch Still Life
Status: getting there
I've added some texxtures. I'm trying to figure out Planar Mapping. Nice plate huh? hehehe! Still haven't figured out how to make a leek with nurbs. there is no lighting in this yet, so that's the next step.
Animation II
We've done two animations.
Subtle Action
The character has to have subtle gestures to make him appear believable. I made my character act silly and then get caught (bottom frame). Ppl licked it and I got an A. So that's cool.
Dynamic Action
The character has to pick up something heave/light and react to it. I created this scenario where he is about to pick up a giant weights but they turn out to be super light. He flings it away!
Our next project is the final where we get to create anything... that leaves a lot of ideas. My teacher said if you can make the character look happy and sad at the same time, you'll get a job. Well, that's what I'm going for!!
Drawing in Motion
This class is PISSING ME OFF!
My teacher is such a one-technique person. I can't stand it.
Rotoscoping
Status: Done
It took a lot of effort but it's done! It looks messy and jumpy, but the teacher liked it. Everyone else did it digitally and therefore he didn't like it. It was too "clean". Of course, their stuff is worth putting in a portfolio while mine goes directly to the circular file (trash).
The next project is a final. Since I did rought technique last time, i thought it would be cool to do the final in Maya.
I made this in Maya. It is a new technique that I learned and I think its AWESOME. I took a full day to learn how to do it, and then I sent it to the teacher for approval.
What did he say? No. Stick with traditional techniques. I'm so mad. this class is starting to be come a waste of money. Everyone created something really cool out of it, but NOT ME.
Solution: I'll do the final with regular 'traditional' techniques and do the same thing with maya.... If i have time that is.
That's it! I'd be totally impressed if someone read the whole thing! I don't expect it though since this is a journal for me and that its available for everyone to read if they choose to.
See ya later!
Ciao!
