Email from my Aunt about my Great Uncle's funeral

The viewing was the hardest part. I had the worst time with it. He looked good but he didn't look anything like Uncle Glen. He had lost so much weight - Margaret said he had lost 30 pounds because he wouldn't eat. They had glasses on him which wasn't right. I don't remember seeing him in glasses at least for not very long periods of time.

The graveside service was short but nice. I hadn't met the preacher. He wasn't the one who did Uncle Pat's service so I assume he was a new pastor. He spoke a little about Uncle Glen. Things I didn't know - like he had a boy scout troop. Any way I liked the fact that he said the lack of people at the funeral wasn't because he didn't have friends but because they had all gone before him. He was the last of a long line. There were quite a few people there- most of them Margaret's family and friends.

I didn't know grandpa Cook was buried in the Price family cemetery.

Uncle Glen is just up the hill from Daddy. Boy was that hard. I think I cried a bucketful of tears. A lot of the people there knew Daddy too.

Like the preacher said would we really want him back in that old worn out sick body. No - but I would sure like to have him back like he was even 10 years ago.

After the service they released a white dove. (something I hadn't seen before) It was supposed to symbolize the spirit leaving the body and soaring to heaven. Well we watched the dove out of site and I thought I saw it land in a tree almost out of sight. Then I looked again and lo and behold the dove flew back and landed in a tree beside where we were all standing I still saw it there when we got ready to leave.

Sounds like a stubborn Cook doesn't it???
