I have two literature classes this semester, and although it's a lot of work, I must say that I am enjoying having my nose buried in a novel all the time these days. Just finished "Dance on My Grave" by Aidan Chambers for my awards and classics of children's and young adult lit class. LOVED it. As Kurt Vonnegut said (and I'm paraphrasing a little here), there's no sense reading something at twelve that you woudn't want to read at 25 or 50. Yeah.
Today's advice to myself:
1. Don't wear shoes with smooth bottoms on icy campus sidewalks just because you want to wear baby pink shoes. You will fall down.
2. Don't assume that a 21 year old art student with a half-pint bottle of whiskey in him loves you when he says he does. He doesn't. Duh.
3. Only buy three or four apples at a time, not a whole huge bag. You can never finish them all before some start getting mushy and weird.
