The Axe (very picture heavy

So behind the cut is the building of the Battle Axe.

This is a brass Skull I had in the house.  It was the original catalyst for the building of the battle axe.  I thought it would make an awesome counter weight end cap.

This is the Axe head, from Starfire. It is the single bladed pole Axe head.  Isn't she purdy?

This is the end cap I ended up using, after attaching the skull proved it to be too light.  I also decided to shorten the pole from five and half feet long to just under  three feet (35 inches)

I wrapped the handle in leather but did not like how it looked due to the unsightly seem left behind.

I added a wrapped leather grip behind the axe head.

I thought about and attempted several times to wrap the leather in wire.  This idea was quickly marked as "Stupid" and discarded.

I added decorative studs to the leather work.

I removed the original leather grip on the lower part of the handle....

I re-wrapped the lower handle with leather lacing.

I divided the lower handle into two grips.

Almost finished,  just needs some stain.

Stain drying as well as another nerf gun in the background.

Is it not a sweet little axe?  At just under 45 inches in total length and roughly 8-10 pounds, she is a pretty little thing.
It will almost be a shame to use her in some stage fights.  But a beautiful piece to carry about.

I will have to Gallery her on the Etsy site as an example of custom design work.
Nerf is not the only thing I modify.
