Akiko...I too was in the "OMG SO ANNOYING" camp, but I really liked her a lot as the series went on for the same reasons you had. I was really impressed with valid and useful she was; I felt she was much more interesting than Decade's Natsumelon and far more effective as a character than Kiva's Megumi (or whoever the main girl was supposed to be). The way she handled her dad's death was so well-done. Had it been written by, say, Inoue, she'd have been angsting. And angsting. And angsting.
With Terui, I was probably one of the few who liked him right away, even if he started out as seemingly standard "Total Dick of a Secondary Rider", but became pretty brotastic and I was still very okay with that.
Shroud is kinda like Narutaki, IMO. ONORE SHOTAROOOOO
I really wanted to keep hating Saeko as the series came to a close, but...I felt really sad when she died...especially since the way she had behaved wasn't such an obvious, in-your-face change-of-heart.

In the time that W aired, I watched a whole lot of Kamen Rider (as you know), and enjoyed them all for the most part, and I truly thing W is the best of the ones I've seen; the characters and story remain consistent, and the main characters are genuinely interesting. I am so glad I got in on this, and even happier to have friends to geek out with to. I'll have to read your fics after I survive AWA.

I think Megumi and Yuri were both supposed to be the main female sidekick from Kiva (makes sense for there to be two since there were two distinct stories up until the end).
Terui...I wanted to like him at the beginning, I really really did. I told myself he was probably a completely adorable character and that he was just being standoffish and a complete dick because of the whole revenge thing, but it still took me a bit to warm up to him. Idk.
OMG. Shroud IS like Narutaki. I'm surprised they didn't have a scene together in the crossover movie both raeging at their respective hated main characters. xD
Beware of the fics...well, you should be able to tell from this book I've written here that I have an extreme bias to Shotaro/Philip so like 90% of my fics are about them. xD
