So I started working on Tsubaki again today, since I FINALLY got over the con-plague (which, as it turns out, was the flu). I started using a kimono pattern (sans sleeves obviously) which I would then alter...but I am missing the front piece, which is the MOST IMPORTANT. So bah. I also bought less fabric than I probably should have, so I had to wing it BIG TIME and just cut out the back kimono piece and fiddle with it. So I've been standing in front of a mirror for a good portion of today, sticking myself with pins. Fun times.

I'm about 50% done with the dress! And by the way, that's a very generous over-estimation. It's probably more lik 30%, but whatever. I'm wanting to get this costume to at least the 80% done mark by Momocon, because wearing it around Momocon for a day will be a very good "trial run" for Animazement, much like Katsucon was for Eruka.

I'm also going to try to finish R2 Cornelia and Liz by then, too, and make a Ragnarok plushie for our Chrona.

Momocon Task List

[Tsubaki - Default Outfit]

• Dress: finish putting in the side panel thingy, add the collar at the top, hem edges, add velcro
• Scarf: make it
• Gloves: tape off stripes, paint with gray fabric paint, fray-check edges, embroider black stars
• Stocking: tape off stripe and paint on w/ gray fabric paint
• Boots: cover with white fabric
• Hip armor: cut out plastic material, paint with silver paint, details, seal, attach to dress with snaps
• Hair: dye real hair black, style bangs, buy extensions, figure out how to make it defy gravity without injuring myself
• Optional: weapon forms

I'm going to be working with a friend of mine who is cosplaying Black★Star to make all of the weapon forms. I might end up making the chain scythe myself, though, because I'd like to make it be able to separate in the middle and possibly attach to one of the extensions in my hair, since Tsubaki herself can do that. ^^

[Cornelia - R2 Battle Outfit]

• Hair: order wig and matching extensions, possibly spray-dye the right color, style
• Make the cape and shoulder armor
• Make the gloves
• Alter and attach things to the shirt
• Make shirt and pants join together somehow (large zipper perhaps?)
• Put cloth on pants
• Make giant boot covers and attach to pants as well
• Optional: sword (fake plastic sword + sculpey + model magic?)

[Liz Thompson - Default Outfit]

• Hair: brush out and style the wig
• Hat: work together with zipchan to make it
• Tie: work together with zipchan to make it
• Belt: make it or cover existing belt with the fabric
• Shirt: finish hemming it (xD)

Those three are the costumes I'm hoping to take to Momocon (three costumes at a two day con...eh, not *that* weird, right?). For Nashicon a month later, the only costume I'm really planning on wearing is Roberta, and only for the Maid Cafe. After that is Animazement, which we're still halfway in the planning stages for. I'm definitely wearing Eruka and Tsubaki, for certain. Tenatives include Liz, Cornelia, Kiyal, Kallen, Lillymon, and Suzuka, mostly for various photoshoots.

Then there are all the crack ideas and randomness that's being thrown around my group and online.

Oh, and just for fun I'd like to make EVERY OUTFIT OF TSUBAKI'S EVER. Especially her flashback!Kimono, 'cuz it looks pretty and comfy, and I need something to wear late-night at cons with my REAL HAIR. =D

• Default: light yellow/cream colored dress, boots, belts, hair up
• Casual: purple turtleneck (from the first opening)
• Basketball outfit: seafoam green track jacket and capri jeans
• Flashback outfit: yellow kimono with Camelias on it (flashback from the Masamune episodes)
• Flashback outfit #2: brown top and pants (flashback to when she first met Black★Star)
• Formal outfit: white dress (haha, I probably don't have the boobs to pull this one off)
• Formal #2: purple dress (this one looks a little more like my style) - ep. 31
• Demon blade mode: not at a con, mostly just for fun/photo ops. Creative use of makeup, anyone?

...did I mention I'm using my REAL HAIR for Tsubaki? It'll be an ADVENTURE! And involve hair dye, a hair straightener, bobby pins, extensions, and probably some wire and foam inserts. xD
