"Daniel doesn't banter with Sam. There seems to be this underlying love/hate thing that they've got going. They've hurt each other at somepoint over the past nine years, and it's stilting everything between them"
(nods sadly) Word.
Unfortunately, I think the Sam/Daniel friendship was strangled in the same way and for many of the same reasons the Jack/Daniel friendship was. Sam and Jack had so little romantic chemistry that TPTB had to keep both of them away from anyone that might upstage the "romance" In this case, they both had more sparkage with Daniel than with each other.
The final blow for Daniel had to be getting skewered by RepliCarter. He knows it wasn't the real Sam, but it's got to lurking somewhere in his psyche. And of course we'll never get to see that dealt with on screen :-(

Great, now I'm itching for a fic where Daniel and Sam battle it out. Or Daniel!angst regarding Sam and trying to put being skewerd by Replicarter behind him. ;)
Daniel doesn't really banter with Teal'c either, but they've got this deep thing between them that makes a lot of their scenes together really intense, which I enjoy immensely. *g*
I love that, too.
That arm striking to shut Cam up was kinda cute and manful.
I'm not sure what my final take is on this episode is. I know that I liked some of it. And there's totally nothing wrong with cloned Ba'als... *shrugs* This one will never reach my top ten, that's a definite. ;)
Thanks! I love that icon, too. claritylore gave me a good idea for some text, so...
I also loved the cloned Ba'als. I actually loved a lot of the scenes in this episode, but I think I liked it less overall because of less Daniel, but the thing I liked the least was the entire premise of the episode (i.e. assassinating Ba'al). Perhaps I'm the only person to have a problem with this, so it's probably just me. I must be overly sensitive right now. I've watched it three times already, though, with the same result. I rated this episode -5 on a scale of 1 - 10. hehe

but the thing I liked the least was the entire premise of the episode (i.e. assassinating Ba'al).I've gotta watch this ep on the better comp. There's lots that I missed, 'cause the vid card I used is very basic, so the file jumped and stuttered quite a bit

I believe that part of the 'flatness' of Carter, and therefore AT, is her absence from the team bonding of the first few eps and yes, there is, sadly, no comic relief or banter! Who will provide this? Maybe it will start to happen between Mitchell and Daniel or Tealc and Mitchell? But, we have been used to it right from the outset...Jack, then Vala.

But, we have been used to it right from the outset...Jack, then Vala. I miss Vala so much! And a Jack and Vala scene would have been priceless if Jack was still around, lol.

And I wanna write a threesome with him, her and the new doctor for the sole purpose of making the pairing Sam/Cam/Lam *G*

You didn't forget nearly as fast as the writers did :-(
Must go look for skewering fic now.

OMG! I can't believe I missed the Freudian significance of that! 8-0
T.W.I.C. were showing us what they've done to Daniel using Sam as their weapon. This just put it into concrete form. Crap! 8-(

I mostly didn't like this episode, though.
