Since I'm spending forever and ever in the toy sections lately, I'm going to talk about toys today. Because WHEEE TOYS.
Let me start off by saying that I hate Bratz. They're ugly. They come with really trashy clothes. Their facial features look like exaggerated versions of what people get for plastic surgery (small nose, giant monster lips, huge eyes - all of this in the most ugly presentation possible) and they stand for absolutely nothing but shopping. (There is even a Bratz Fashion Private Party Jet. No, srsly.) At least Barbie had jobs and went to school and babysitted her little sister. I think Bratz Babies are the spawn of the damned. No, honestly.
LOOK AT THEM. (Did you pee a little in fear? I did.)
BUT.
Despite all that, I actually saw two Bratz dolls today that WEREN'T SO BAD. See, the Bratz line has come out with a few special porcelain dolls that are not only tolerable to look at, but would actually be very pretty if they just downsized the catepillar lips a liiittle more. JUST A LITTLE MORE, GUYS. They lack that CHEAP LOOK most Bratz dolls have much more than you can see in the picture. Classier clothes, nicer look to the skin, less AH JEST THREW ON SAM BLUE EYESHADA makeup styling, etc. etc.
Personally, I'm not that crazy about Barbie either. BUT. I have to say. I'm liking Barbie dolls more and more because there is SUCH A RANGE coming out lately. Not just with different hair colors, but also wildly different makeup on some dolls. In fact, if you look at some of the special dolls (like holiday ones, and other expensive ones) they even appear to have been made from different head molds because their faces are not shaped quite the same. THAT IMPRESSES ME OKAY. (Next time your in a store with a Barbie section, check out the
2008 Holiday Barbie. So gorgeous.) So. Yeah. I totally bought a Barbie doll the other day on a whim SHUT UP IT WAS ON CLEARANCE AND IT WAS CUTE. It was the pink and black Fashion Spell halloween one. I'd link to a pic but I can't find anything that do her justice. (For some reason Barbies don't photograph well. They come out really shiny and weirdly tan.)
What I really want is a Pullip BUT OH GOD WHY ARE THEY ALL $100+. I did buy a Little Pullip (the
Little Fanatica) and it wasn't worth the $15 I paid for it. Pretty? Yes. Well-made? Sweet god no. The more you touch it the uglier it gets. Don't take it's clothes off because they will never go back on right again. The shoes and socks are plastic and part of the legs. The clothing dye stains the doll's skin. AND SO FORTH.)
Also. Today at the store. I saw that we sell a tiny baby doll for little girls with shiny happy packaging proclaiming that they are called Preemies.
Um.
What.
