Children's Day

May 23, 2007 23:18

For the second time in our young shared lives, Kiyoaki and I celebrated Kodomo no Hi, the Japanese holiday honoring children. In comparison with last year's, this time we reached new heights of cultural inaccuracy, poor decorations and lousy picture quality. Also - please kindly ignore the fact that I'm writing this with a twenty-day delay.

Welcome to...

Kiyoaki: Are you sure origami shobu will ward off evil as well as real iris flowers?
Erinna: Not actually. But it's all we've got. (1)

Kiyoaki: Are you sure these samurai figurines are good enough for Boys' Day dolls?
Erinna: In fact, I don't think so.

Kiyoaki: You know how to put a kimono on, right?
Erinna: Of course not. I'm just guessing.

Kiyoaki: Then what do you know?
Erinna: I know we *are* celebrating this, you like it or not.
Kiyoaki: All right >.<

(1) True, since iris flowers around here bloomed and withered away more than a month ago.

It's curious to read last year's post, so grave, almost sorrowful in tone, full with the painful desire of doing better, and comparing it with this little silly scene. I guess I'm feeling happier now. And indeed it is so, now I think of it. I am happier that I was one year ago. Good news ^^
Best wishes of health, happiness and new expensive outfits to all doll-children and their proud parents!
