Realizing I'm Very Bad About Remembering to Write These Things...

Feb 25, 2010 20:27

So it's been over a month since the last time I posted anything, I think. So my lesson for the month of February: me + blogging = epic fail!

It's been a really insane whirlwind of a month though, so technically I have a lot of things I could have been writing about. I very well planned to write a very long rant about Valentine's day, which I may still write and post later even though the holiday has passed. I've never been a fan of the holiday, and it has nothing to do with the fact that I'm single. In fact last year my boyfriend at the time got very, very annoyed with me because I told him I refused to endorse the holiday in any way, shape, or form. He rolled his eyes at me and then showed up with chocolates. Admittedly my indignation caved there. C'mon, it was chocolate!

This year I was sick with my second sinus cold in a row for Valentines. (Warning: when your job involves working with small children, expect to be sick constantly. It's inevitable.) I learned this year my family has a very twisted sense of the holiday. It's already sort of screwy around this house, because Valentines also happens to be my parent's anniversary. Sounds like a cute gesture, getting married on the holiday of love, but mostly it just makes it so getting reservations to do something for the anniversary is impossible unless you plan a year in advance.
Anyway, back on track. We celebrated Valentines a day early as a family, and it was spent eating McDonalds, playing with the singing dancing figurines Dad bought us all. (I got a little devil that sings "Do You Love Me?" It's awesome!) And afterward we broke in our new Netflix free streaming disc by watching... *drumroll* ... Quarantine. Because who doesn't love a good flesh-eating cannibalistic zombie movie shot on a handheld camera a la Blair Witch when trying to get in the mood, right? This is the point where I face palm. The only good point in the movie was that there was one particularly yummy firefighter. Eye candy! Random Artie fact: I have mad love for firemen. But that's a tangent I'll get into another day.

The week after Valentines, my sinus cold escalated to a point where the pressure messed up my inner ear. I've now been deaf in my right ear for exactly two weeks today. If you ever want to learn to appreciate your senses, this is a good way to do it. I never realized how important being able to hear is until I couldn't do it anymore. I thought it wouldn't be so bad since it was only one side. Ha, proved me wrong. On the flip side though, when I went to the doctor's earlier this week, they told me that my hearing is up to 40% now and should hopefully be almost fully returned by the start of next week. Thank goodness. It was really embarrassing to have someone standing on my right side trying to hold a conversation with me and me being completely oblivious to the entire thing.

I am now the proud owner of a piano keys belt like the one Artie from Glee wears, and it is probably my single most favoritest possession at the moment. Thank you Maggie for finding it for me. On another Glee note, forty-six days left until it returns. Boo-yah!

Okay I'm done rambling for the moment, but expect another post soon. I plan on posting reviews of the handful of movies I've seen this month soon, which also managed to spawn a couple other rants. From now on my intention is to make sure I post something at least once a week, but hopefully more than that if I can. Now I'm going to go back to staring blankly at my Microsoft Word and pray for inspiration to finally give me the next chapter of the fanfiction I'm writing.

Peace, Love, and Happiness!
