On Annoying Community Posts

Aug 18, 2007 19:11

Someone made a post in the anthrocon community simply saying, "I have just booked my room for Anthrocon."

Seeing posts like these in the AC community journal annoy me, because honestly, WHO CARES? What's that? People who actually know you might care? Well then post that kind of stuff in your PERSONAL journal, not to a whole freakin' community, most of which doesn't have any idea who you are or why they should care that you booked your room for the convention. This also goes for the people who make posts in the community saying they won't be able to make it to the convention. I don't even know how many entries I saw this past year from people I don't even know and it wouldn't matter to me one way or the other if they could make it to the con or not. People seriously need to keep that stuff to their personal journals and then the people who know them and actually care would see it, instead of spamming up the friend pages of people watching for actual Anthrocon info with this useless info.

Regarding the entry from the guy who just booked his hotel room, I wanted to reply with this: "Thanks for letting us know, most of us were wondering when you were going to book your room. Please be sure to follow up with us if you won't be able to attend after all." , but I'm more worried about the drama they would ensue if I did, so I decided to rant here instead. :D

bah, anthrocon
