Hey, I'm a musician!
As some of my Friends may know, I grew up playing music. Music has been a part of my psyche from very early on. However, recently I haven't been doing much playing, or in fact any at all. I recently bought a new musical instrument, and I fully intend to explore its capabilities. But tonight I remembered something.
I can play the guitar!
Whenever I've been listening to music - always music that I've chosen - there have been certain tracks that I've thought "that would be really cool to play and sing". In fact, it all started when I discovered Jonathan Coulton. I noticed on his website that there are chords for his songs. Since Skullcrusher Mountain is such an awesome song, I thought I'd grab the chords and practice playing it. That expanded to Talking Heads' Heaven (one of my favourite songs of all time), Smoke On The Water (because if you have a guitar in your hands how can you not?), Weird Al's The Saga Begins (which is fortunate to be a filk of another well-known song) and My Sharona (just because it's awesome).
Once I've got a repertoire of some 20-30 songs, and have practiced enough to feel confident, I may play some for people at some party or another. Don't rush me man, art takes time!
