I wasn’t expecting to see Charlie’s boyfriend significant other this evening. I know I sent an owl informing him that Charlie’s being treated, and I did expect him to visit at some point, I just never imagined I’d be there at the same time. Then again, I suppose it was unavoidable, considering I’ve been stopping in at every chance I get, even though they’ve had Char knocked out for the majority of the week to treat him. I believe Arthur’s gone to see him as well, and I do hope that our son doesn’t feel too lonely in that hospital room. I need to see about sneaking him some of my cooking, as I know he can’t be fond of the stuff they serve at St. Mungo’s. Note to self: take lunch to work tomorrow. Anyway, back to my encounter with one Nicholas Edwards. I suppose our initial meeting wouldn’t have been as awkward as it was if we had been able to find something to talk about, granted Charlie was the one trying to keep the conversation going. I love the boy to death, and I know he tried, but I think it would have gone better if we had stayed away from careers. Then again, I wasn’t offering any topics either, so I shouldn’t complain. The fact that Charlie dates men will take some getting used to, more than I thought, actually. I do hope Nicholas treats him right, but based on what I experienced yesterday; something seems off about him, though I’m not sure what. He just had that air about him, like the one Fleur had when I first met her. Granted, she turned out to be somewhat decent for a period of time, though that doesn’t excuse her for what has happened between her and Bill. Bill didn’t deserve to be hurt, and truthfully, that’s all I was trying to prevent when he first brought her around.
As for Nicholas, I suppose I’ll have to wait and see how his relationship with Charlie plays out, and I wish he’d bring him by the Burrow for a proper ‘meet the parents’ dinner, as a hospital really isn’t a conducive environment for those types of things, and it would be nice for Arthur to meet him as well. However, as I’m sure my lack of conversation made me come off as a bit stand-offish, I won’t be surprised if Charlie chooses not to bring him around. Perhaps I’ll have Arthur talk to him about it, as I do want to be supportive of Charlie, no matter whom it is he’s dating.
