So, this weekend went nicely. Saturday morning I called David and was able to have a good conversation with him. It also reminded me, that I should call Jon. I guess I worry that he will want to hang out and I will be unable to. I was not able to get any real work done this weekend, but I went to a friends house and his family, another guest, and I took turns reading The Revelation of Jesus Christ chapter by chapter in preparation for the overview of the book on Sunday, in Pasadena. It was instructive, but a little daunting as we had just eaten a nice meal and the blood rushed to my stomach. I am not sure what is more distracting: doing something while full or doing something while hungry.
Sunday went well. It was good to see people I haven't seen in awhile. The meal was excellent and the overview was quite informative. I would like to hear some of the more in-depth chapter studies of the book, but I doubt I will find it easy to travel to where they are holding their Bible study for the book. Last night my kidney stone acted up and I couldn't sleep at all. I tried all positions on the bed and tried boring myself with children's programing on the Smile of a Child network. It was about honesty with adults pretending to be kids with ridiculous costumes and mannerisms. Today (or should I say yesterday) I was real tired in the morning so I went in at about 11:00 AM and ate lunch and paid my fees for the quarter. Then I tried typing my thesis but I kept being interrupted by people who needed me to do things for them. If there was a Ph.D. for helping people, I would easily have met the requirements for such a degree, long ago. I am happy to help, but at the same time feel like I will never get any of my own work done.
Tomorrow, I shall be staying home in the morning and work on some more typing. I also hope to shave. I have an appointment to meet my mentor for community college teaching at 2:00PM, and then I will head to work. I hope to be ready for doing some paper reading and literature searching before leaving for work. Also, I have to help conduct a tour of our labs tomorrow at 6:00PM, unless Chronister is there to do it.
