Getting Shafted at Jubby Lube
Every 5000 miles I get screwed either at the Toyota Dealer in MD or the Jiffy Lube here in Arlington - Although I like to complain about it, I still come back like clockwork. I guess it is because I used to work on my previous car all of the time and I unconciously compare what they are charging me ($100) with what it would cost me to do the same exact thing myslef (~$40). Of course the joy of apartment living means that I do not have a place to work on my car, which explains why I must go back.
I go every 5000 miles because that is what the maintanance manual reccomends. Last I went to Jiffy Lube the dude complained that I should get a change every 3000 miles. This time, a different dude complained that I should go every 7500 miles and that I was wasting my money - what the HELL? I think I'll just follow the Toyota manual.
Then the dude points to my radiator fluid and says that it will cost 3 bucks to fill the radiator. How LAME is that - topping fluid levels is supposed to be part of their "Signature Service" - at least that is what they advertise. So I made some smart ass comment, and the dude backed down.
How do you guys do your oil changes?
