Lyonors knows that the black sheep of the family is Lynette. And she knows well that this makes her the perfect bride. That is one of the reasons that lead her to that mess.
Being the prisoner of the Red Knight is no fun at all. Probably it is also her fault because she didn't manage to find a decent husband before stories about her virtue and beauty went too far (reaching the ears of that Red Knight).
It was not that her parents didn't try. They did, of course, but they died too early and all the castle's responsabilities fell on her uncle's shoulders.
Her uncle has always been too good with the little Lynette and Lyonors and he has always felt that Lyonors should marry only someone she really liked.
Lyonors was not stupid so she perfectly know that she has to marry. She wasn't even picky. She didn't care much about a man age or his features and men found her beautiful enough.
It was the conversation that always went wrong.
"Lady Lyonors, you are beautiful this morning."
"You are very kind, sir."
"I wish the sun wasn't so fast so I could spend all the hours of my life with you. The night comes too early."
"Well, sir-" (she tried, but she just couldn't help it) "- I'm really partial to the Aristarchus of Samos's cosmology theory."
"Sorry, milady?"
"I mean, I actually think the stars are too far away to permit us to use them as a motivation to believe the Earth is, unmoving, in the center of the universe."
Her conversation usually stopped right there. And she has no propension to marry a man who didn't even understand the word "cosmology" or "epicycle".
And now she was a prisoner. And the Red Knight has no idea of what an epicycle was.
Her only hope now was Lynette. Her little sister promised her that she would save her asking help to the High King Arthur.
"And maybe I'll be lucky. Maybe I'll take back a great knight who is Aristraus of Somas in person." (Lyonors didn't even have the streight to correct her mistaking the scierntist name).
(Lynette returned two months later with a foreign knight named Sir Gareth. Sir Gareth was no Aristarchus of Samos, he didn't even know what an epicycle was but when Lyonors started talking... he just started asking her questions).
