"Mmm." He doesn't look up. He rarely does, when he's working.
"An errant question--"
"Yes?"
"Do you ever want something besides this?"
This time he does lift his head. "Morte jeune--"
The young man cuts him off with a grin. "Petit morte. You see, you're not the only one who can say a few things."
"When I want something from you, you'll know."
When he goes to his room hours later, Sagramore is dozing naked on his mattress. "I don't like waiting," he says, smiling, sitting up, and Kay, in spite of himself, climbs in to share that warmth.
