grabass charlestons:pretty good band. nothing amazingly special, but not bad either. they were decent punk rock, that really would win you over by their stage presence/antics rather than their music. again, it wasn't bad, but it was just nothing new or too original. their bassist is really good though. he makes their live show.
lucero: i've seen some bad bands in my day, but christfuck these dudes take the cake. theyr'e by no means bad musicians, and they're all really tihgt when they play, but their song sjust suck. they're all slow and drawn out and shitty.
against me!: seriously the best show i've ever been to. it tops the former which was northstar on 9/23/03. the difference between the two is that against me! brings the crowd when northstar's have been very sparce. anyways...it was way better than the last time i saw them at the orpheum, which suprized me since i figured they wouldn't play as much old stuff. but the thing is, they did. they just played a much longer set, and included all the songs they usally play, except they also played baby i'm an anarchist. they played two new songs that havent' been released. the crowd was great. i got my glasses knocked off and my wallet was ripped of it's chain (that i bought to keep from losing it heh) but i got them both back. after the show was over i was like "what it's not done!" and started singing "jordan's first choice" and i got like 8 other kids to sing it with me. we danced like the show was still going on, and we sang really loud. the guys in against me! just laughed. it was a great time. their set was as follows (not necesarrily in order):
pints of guiness make you strong
cliche guevarra
mutiny on the electronic bay
new song
slurring the rythms
sink, florida, sink
rice and bread
new song
those anarcho punx are mysterious
we laugh at danger (and break all the rules)
walking is still honest
reinventing axl rose
turn those clapping hands into angry balled fists
