So. Controversial post time again!! ...Sorta.
Remember when I made that post about gay rights? Well, this is similar, except, in light of his speech yesterday, about health care reform!
The way I see it, we need it, and now. It's so screwed up... and there should definately be a public option!! It's like the public school system, or the mail system- we have government-run programs for both, but private schools are doing just fine, as are private shipping companies.
And the death panels thing? Is absolutely ridiculous. They don't exist, they never will exist, there's nothing about them in the bill, and the overall idea is just absurd.
At the very least, we need prices for it to come down, better quality care, and for someone to tell them to stop being douchebags and let people with "preexisting conditions" get good care too. I mean, take me for example. I am the picture of health. Healthy weight, good height, blood pressure, everything. I get maybe two colds a year, and that's it. But I have very, very minor ADD which I occasionally need medication for. That's a pre-existing condition. It'll be ridiculously difficult for me to find good coverage when I need my own insurance under the current system.
The US could have the best health care system in the world. And somehow, we choose not to. It just... confuses me.
