Dorothy moved away from the farm in Quincy, FL, where she grew up, when she was too old to run it anymore. She moved in with her daughter, Sara; Sara's husband, Rob; and their 5 children. She took only what she needed and left the rest, then sold the 10-acre farm with its four hand-crafted wood buildings to her nephew for $10,000. On Thursday I went up to see the farm with Dorothy's youngest grandson, 28-year-old Jacob. Nothing in the place had been touched in almost 25 years.
When Dorothy left, she took only what she needed.
