Цікавим є те, що одна з методик вивчення іншомовної лексики саме полягає у тому, щоб невідомі слова пов"язувати зі словами рідної мови, що близькі до іншомовного слова фонетично;))
Але якщо серйозно, то я вчора дізнався про те, що у північно-кавказьких мовах є шар запозичень з невідомої афразійської мови, яка ближче до хамітських мов, ніж до семітських. Власне, аналізуючи арійсько-афразійські лексичні збіги, я дійшов до того самого висновку - в арійських мовах більше впливу хамітських мов, ніж семітських.

Але є й більш цікава книжка! Ось ця. Автор доводить, що в англійській мові, та в мовах ІЄ народів є великий шар семітських запозичень, зокрема англійське earth (земля, ґрунт) походить від івритського erec (або arac земля, ґрунт). Дуже великі спеціялісти з компаративістики (такі, як московських лінгвіст Кас"ян) дуже не рекомендують її читати. Мене це не дивує, оскільки мені відомо, що серед лінгвістів прибічники однієї теорії ненавидять прибічників іншої.

This is a sequel to the author's Semitic and Indo-European: The Principal Etymologies (1995). That volume provided the key examples of morphological correspondences between the Semitic and the Indo-European languages.
