Only one? What a shame, when I have so many to choose from! It might be difficult to decide which one to relate to you. More to the point, it might be impossible altogether, given the nature of the things I have heard and the capacity in which I found myself privy to such knowledge. You could say I'm in the business of overhearing secrets. At the risk of sounding a braggart, I pride myself on my ability to blend into my surroundings. Many a clandestine meeting of nefarious minds has occurred with little concern for the local color -- the Chef puttering around his pantry, for instance, or the Old Seaman seated on the wharf. What better way to overhear a plot that might threaten the National Security than by standing in plain sight?
