Updates in the new year!
Hey everyone! Happy 2011 stuff!
So here's a couple of updates for you ....

So I have a confession to make. I watched the Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief movie. Cringe. I was SO worried that I would hate it, as I usually dislike Greek Myth-themed movies, and this one looked extra cheesy from the previews. But I still never get tired of seeing a Hermes or an Athena portrayal, so I got some wine and figured what the hey.
... Aaaaand I loved it! I know, I know, I'm a little embarrassed, but even the cheesy parts were just cheesy enough for me. I think part of what really won me over was the quest the three main characters had to go on to find secret little havens within America where gods were hiding in disguise. It reminded me of American Gods, which I obsessively loved. Sometimes America seems so devoid of history and magic, unlike the times when I've been lucky enough to go to Greece and Italy, and just been petrified with amazement at everything the entire time. American Gods led me to believe you could find hidden magic and old world gods in places you least expected. And even other movies, like National Treasure, managed to find fun mystical scavenger hunts locked in American history, too.
Anyway. I liked it. I'm not ashamed. Viva la Gods!
