a) My first attempt ran over by about 258 words.
b) If you do have a word limit, I have a suggestion--you should put up a word counter! That way it's easier for people who don't have word or something to count the number of words they've used for their drabble, you know? I found one for you to use--this one even has a Javascript thing you can put right in your journal: Here.
XD Fun, right?
Anyway, I'm going to give it another shot, and try to make it actually 100 words this time. xD

Waste
Affection was a rare concept Near'd never had the need to display-- perhaps he didn't even know how. Mello died thinking that Near didn't care and wouldn't cry for him. He was right in the latter.
Alone in his world of plastic and towers made of paper, Near continued living with Mello's doll, always keeping it close to him. One day, he found himself stroking it softly with his finger in a very unusual affectionate gesture, as if the real Mello could feel it.
"What a waste," Near mused, leaving Mello's doll beside his on the cold floor.

Wrong
He glared down at the paper. No, this couldn't possibly be right. It was such a small mistake to make that he was certain that it was a fluke, or maybe even done on purpose. But why? Roger shook his head and scanned the paper again, as if it would change by the time he got back to it, but there it was: one hugely incorrect answer to a calculus problem. And the name at the top of the page?
'Near.'
With a sigh he lifted his pen and put a big, red 'X' over the number beside the answer.
