Lost and Found - Part One

Right - so my first entry in a damn long time is going to be a small little story I wrote at work today. My newest World of Warcraft RP character ( Avannis - Blood Elf - Sentinals ) is having some trouble remembering her past. So this is the first of many memory/dreams she'll be having over the next month or so. I don't feel like explaning everything right now... just enjoy it for the nice little story it is. :P

The last thing I remember was falling asleep next to Alenaln. When I opened my eyes in the next moment, I found myself in a place that I did not remember being in for many years...

I have always loved the gardens. The bright colors and exotic smells used to relax me and allow me access to that small measure of peace we all feel when times are at their worst. I think that was why I went out there that day. Father had gotten a disturbing letter at dinner from a messenger whose colors I did not recognize. Shortly after, I was dismissed from the great hall where we were eating. Why he would consult my mother and younger brother without me is puzzling. I am the heir to the estate and the Da'Kien fortune, and as such I am usually present for any matter troubling the family. But Father had an unusual harshness in his eyes tonight, so I dared not argue.

All of this and more clouded my mind as I walked the pathways in the family's private garden. I looked down at my shoes with a frown as I felt something wet touch my toes. Before coming here, I had not thought to change my footwear, and so I still donned the emerald satin slippers that I had worn to dinner. Mother was going to be furious. I let out a sigh before I pushed it to the back of my mind. The flowers were too beautiful for me to ignore in favor of such silly and negative thoughts.

I sat down on a nearby golden bench, adjusting the cushions behind me to spare my back the uncomfortable hardness. My favorite velvet green dress brushed against the ground and I thanked the Sun that the pathway was dry. It would upset me if my dress had been ruined by mud.

My eyes closed and I turned my smiling face up to the sun. Idly I brushed a strand of my bushy red hair behind my right ear as my mind drifted away from me again. Without anything in particular to think about, I started to grow drowsy.

I think that was when I started feeling uneasy. I opened my emerald green eyes and inspected the gardens around me. I twas far too quiet. I could not hear the guards talking at their posts, and it even seemed like the pond frogs had gone mute. My blood ran ice cold in my veins and I knew I was on the verge of panic. I attempted to stand up, but was swiftly made to sit back down as a hand clamped onto my bare shoulder and another grabbed the hair on the top of my head.

"I don't think so, Avannis." A voice whispered harshly. It was a man's voice, one I did not recognize but yet sounded vaguely familiar. I tried to move, tried to at least see the man who dare attack me, but he held me firmly in place. He was able to control my head with a mere tug of my hair. I let loose the loudest scream I could manage, but even to my ears it sounded like a croak.

I think that was when Alenaln woke me up.
