Appendix

If anyone's wondering where Jem has been these last few days, he's been having his appendix out!!! He's currently in RPA hospital doing fine - due to come out tomorrow - just a bit sore and so on. He went in yesterday on a good diagnosis from the GP, low-grade temperature & stomach cramps on the right side - we were in Casualty for four hours watching the parade of people having manic episodes, skateboarding accidents, broken arms, asthma attacks, etc. etc.

He had to have a CT scan but he was so skinny they couldn't see anything - apparently you need a bit of fat to separate the organs. Anyway when they got the appendix out it was indeed "moderately inflamed" so that was good. My sister had hers rupture and that can be really ugly - she was in hospital for a week and luck it wasn't worse.

As for anyone who is wondering where I've been, I'm studying Honours full-time this year and it takes up nearly every waking hour - I have very little time left for being nice to children, doing shopping etc. I do apologise for my slackness in updating but you will all be able to read my published work when it's finished.... maybe? My experiment is finally coming together and it's going to be great.

I was at school today seeing someone about Brendan and Ros came in fulminating about students taking off to strike with the workers over the Workplace Relations Bill. I had to say "Sorry, but I'm on their side!" I hate it how Uni students are all too mercenary and conservative to jave any opinions. I approve of people having the conviction of their beliefs. But I can see that also the school can fret about duty of care (legal niceties).`

Happiness to all & good luck in yr 11 assessments...
