(no subject)
So I'm 21 now... well I have been for almost two weeks but I just haven't really gotten around to posting a real entry yet. I opened a couple of presents had my roomies bring me a brownie cake(with a very wonderful rendition of a Happy Birthday) and went to bed. Later last week(on Friday) I went out with Alli, Jessica, Jason and Ben. We ended up going to Havanna Rumba's which is a really great Cuban restaurant and my first legal drink was ALli's favorite, a Mohito(or is it with a j?) and then we ended up going to O'Shea's for drinks afterwards. Much fun especially the really akward spin the bottle game and the truth ot truth game we played(not much to dare in a bar that would be horrible in the morning) and then we went back to Alli and Jessica's apartment afterward. I stayed up with Jessica talking until 4am when finally I wasn't buzzed anymore and very tired. Since then I've been doing alright. Hate my music history class but that's because I just don't understand how Kathryn teaches and it just frustrates me that I sat through Richard's Mass as a Musical Genre class this summer in Austria and now she's just confusing the heck out of not just me but Michael, Bart and Alli too. I think I just understand Richard's thought processes and how he organizes things when he's teaching a whole lot better than some people. I was so ready for a history class with him and then after signing up for the class I learn he wasn't teaching it. Accounting is fine, I'm not failing this time. Sprint is actually looking at my resume and stuff for an internship this summer... maybe I'll get it. Still have to finish up my applications for XM Satellite Radio and Sirius and then Ruckus in Herndon. Maybe I'll try to apply for something in Louisville too. I don't think there's much of a selection right now. I'm just trying to keep my head on this semester and not break down again. That's always not a good thing. I need to get some more CDs... need new music... or I could just go in the tech lab and create my own but I don't have that much time.... just figured out how to convert a few songs I had into midi files to play in Finale... I have to see if it works on other music and then I'll have a fun time with that. Right now I have a project from Todd that I have to basically mash and edit three songs into one. Now normally this would be fun but I have three really funky pieces to mash... 1) a song from Devo(Whip it, whip it good...) 2) a Piece from the Black Angels( an avante garde group of string players and picture screeching violins... like actually screeching and yeah) 3)a piece from Amon Tobin whom not many people know, but it's my favorite out of the three because it's just cool by itself. But my piece of mash ups is coming along so far but still have to fit a lot of the Devo stuff in. We had our orchestration class at Richard's house the other day. We watched Moulin Rouge with his awesome sound system and he made us some really good chili(almost sinfully good) I had fun because during the movie I was sitting near Richard and we were commenting the whole time on the actual orchestral music in the background... I had fun. Oh and then last week a guy named Gerome who had graduated at the end of my freshman year was sitting in the campus minstry office. I ad talked a bit with him before he graduated and he is hilarious... he should be a stand up comic because he can keep me laughing for two hours which he did last Friday. But he had graduated with a major in something and also music. We started talking about our favorite composers and seriously dominated the conversation in the office with our talk of composers... makes me feel like I know something. We especially got hooked on film composers for a good while too... so yeah I didn't do too much for a while but I'm still alive... made our kitchen smell like fish sauce(very unpleasant) when I tried a new recipe for some Tai noodles...it tasted fine but smelled aweful. And then last night I made Chapatis which turned out fine... not as good as Mrs. Rammah's though...
Today I went to classes and then came home to take a nap to find Connie vaccuming(didn't know we had a vaccum) and so I took the trash out and disinfected it and Sarah cleaned the many rocks off our driveway(they make it very dangerous to walk down) and then I saw a lot of litter in our yard so I went and picked up trash not just in front of our house but all the houses on the street. Connie made me lunch(fish that was really good though a bit dry, but knowing her cooking skills aren't great it was good) and then she made cookies too. So I went to take a nap for a bit and woke up to my phone ringing and a migraine. Wesley came over for a little bit and then left and Sarah made Poppy Seed chicken for dinner... awesome meal! I'm craving it again already.... Watched The Legend of Zorro with Connie and made really weird comments the entire time. And now I'm writing a boring entry... hope maybe you read this far... if you did I love you for putting up with my rambling....so yeah... I think I might try to go to bed early to get some well needed sleep and then figure out what I need to do tomorrow before I go out with Alli and Jessica for a girls night. Maybe I'll start on my essays(1 philosophy, 1 Music history, study for accounting test 1, finish my mashing project for Todd, go over some music for Richard, memorize my piano piece so Meme doesn't kill me and then I can do what I want) Also need to pick up a harddrive and shell at Best Buy so that I can have an external harddrive that I can save all my tech projects on without having to transfer huge files to my thumbdrives which aren't big enough anyway for those files. I'm rambling again...
